A Call to Nineveh
Frequently Asked Questions
Our Calling
"For the harvest is plentiful,
but the workers are few..."
    This is the short version:

Rachel and I were both successful professionals.  We were very blessed in the
American workforce.  We came to a point, however, when we began to question
our reason for being where we were. I felt a call to the ministry at a younger age,
but never knew what God had in store.  In fact, I had decided that I wanted
nothing to do with the ministry at all.  I had seen first-hand how painful stepping
out in faith to serve God could be!  Rachel's family also knew from childhood
that God would do something amazing through her life.  So, we decided to try
and discover what God had created us to do.  It was a tough time of seeking
God's face and submitting our will to His.  Was His plan for us to earn money
and be comfortable, or make a difference in the world.  In 2005 we began
praying for direction from the Holy Spirit.  Over the next 3 years, through a series
of several specific events including a promotion, a move, church change, new
neighbors, and a unique children's ministry role, God led us to a specific group of
quest to live for God, no matter how hard it gets.  They challenged us to do the
same.  We agreed, not knowing what God had in mind.  These people agreed to
become our mentors and help us uncover what God wanted for us.  These people
are now members of our  prayer advisory team.  Through the advice of the
advisory team, we discovered an interest in foreign missions.  Specifically, we
felt that God could use our talents to work with children overseas.  Our family
began to research several organizations and we settled on Pioneers.  With the
help of this organization and our prayer advisory team, we narrowed down all of
the possibilities to eastern Europe.  This was interesting to us because my first
military deployment sent me to Bosnia.  During my time in Bosnia, I had a
great deal of interaction with children through a school and orphanage that our
platoon sponsored and donated to.  We took a survey trip in 2007 to visit all of
the teams in Bosnia/Croatia/Serbia and see where God would lead us.  Again,
with the help of the advisory team, we were able to discern God's leading to the
team in Croatia.  We've been working on the Croatia team now and have been
truly blessed to see God open doors again and again for us.  Who knew that God
would use the time I spent in the military here for a greater purpose?  So, here's
    our mission statement.

We have determined to serve God;
whenever and wherever He directs us...
No matter the cost!
We know that God has created each of us with a specific purpose, and we are
excited to continue to learn about His will and direction for our lives.  We want
to show God's love to people who have no other way to discover it.  Now, for the
hard part.  What about you?  What has God laid on your heart?  What has He
created you for?   What does He have in mind for you?  How will your life be
used to bring glory & honor to Him?  Are you willing to find out?  It's risky.  He
may ask you to make some major sacrifices.  He's asking you to trust Him
completely.  Are you willing to risk your perceived security and step out and find
out about God's best?  Don't miss out on the blessing for fear of failure or
    rejection from people!

This the short version of the story.  There's so much more to be told.  We'd love
the opportunity to share more with you sometime!
